In the weekend of 2 to 4 October 2026, the International Choir Festival Flanders will take place for the 18th time at C-mine in Genk, in the heart of Limburg. There, the past and the charm of the old mine buildings go hand in hand with contemporary creativity: the suitable venue for a classical choral competition broadened with a new section (light music) and a festival day Zin(g) in Genk on Sunday.

The musical weekend traditionally opens with a high-class concert on Friday evening.

International choir competition

On Saturday, the international choir competition will take place for 12 selected choirs divided into 2 categories (classical music - light music). They will sing a competition programme including, for category 1, a compulsory work specially composed for IKV-Genk.

During a concert on Saturday night, participating choirs will fraternise with each other in a concert at C-mine or provide a guest performance on location.

Festival day

Sunday is the festival day with workshops for all those who love to sing, choral singers and conductors. In the most beautiful locations of C-mine, international competition choirs will have a podium for a free programme. Alternating with them, choirs and groups from Genk and all over Flanders will perform.

At 17.30h, choirs and audience will sing the festival song together on the square of C-mine.
