In the weekend of 2 to 4 October 2026, the International Choir Festival Flanders will take place for the 18th time at C-mine in Genk, in the heart of Limburg. There, the past and the charm of the old mine buildings go hand in hand with contemporary creativity: the suitable venue for a classical choral competition broadened with a new section (light music) and a festival day Zin(g) in Genk on Sunday.

Happy team posing

There’s nothing more fun than learning or improving your Flemish through cool, simple Flemish songs. Together with RIMO and the Regenboogkoor, we’ll be running a programme from March 2024, culminating in a fun final session during the festival. There’s nothing more fun than singing together – you’ll soon see. And if you fancy a little dance, that’s certainly an option too.

Participation is FREE. Please register in advance.

Jonas Rasmussen is undoubtedly a rising star on the international choral scene. From playful warm-ups and rehearsal games to in-depth insights into the repertoire, tips for singers and conductors, and a glimpse behind the scenes: he makes choral music accessible, exciting and relevant to everyone. He always has two things in mind: celebrating the beauty of the human voice and encouraging others to join in that celebration. Highly recommended for any choir singer or conductor wishing to discover the surprising approach of this leading Danish conductor.

Step into the world of South American choral music, brimming with lively rhythms and warm, colourful timbres. The melodies dance to syncopated and swaying rhythmic patterns, whilst the harmonies feel both earthly and heavenly.

Let yourself be guided by Maria Guinand (Venezuela), an internationally renowned conductor and inspiring teacher who will take you on a journey through Caribbean and Latin American rhythms, singing and moving along the way. Expect infectious grooves, compelling polyphony and percussive vocal techniques that will immediately bring out the sparkle in you as a choir singer.

International choir competition: light music
