With over 35 years of tradition and numerous awards, the Chamber Choir Orfej from Ljutomer is regarded as one of Slovenia’s leading vocal ensembles. Founded in 1989, the choir initially developed under the direction of Romana Rek and later collaborated with renowned conductor Janez Bole, performing also as Slovenski madrigalisti. Since 2010, Orfej has worked with Andraž Hauptman, who became its artistic director in 2017, followed by Vito Žerdin in 2023. The choir has achieved outstanding results at national and international competitions, including three gold plaques at the Slovenian national competition, 4th place and a conductor’s award at the Fleischmann International Trophy 2023 in Ireland, a gold plaque and audience award at Ave Verum 2022 in Austria, and, most recently, two gold plaques and the Grand Prix at Slovakia Cantat 2024 in Bratislava for exceptional artistic performance.
